A gorilla plays “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins for a Cadbury advertisement.
-
Garon Michael is the drummer wearing the Gorilla suit in the video.
-
This was voted as the “Most Popular Commercial of 2007″.
-
However, the commercial has approximately zilch to do with chocolate.
The Cadbury marketing team’s thought process boiled down to the following equation:
(Gorilla playing drums to a Phil Collins power ballad)
= (Pure Advertising Genius + Record Cadbury Chocolate Sales)

Kwon Sung Kook Steals the Show (1976)

This in example of extremely animated, exhuberant playing that really stands out. This guy is a show stealer! This is too funny… The close-ups of the drummer’s actions throughout the song are priceless (especially his headbanging around 3:01). He is definitely having some fun! The lip-synching really adds some tasty flavor to this rockin’ song as well…
One of his crash cymbals is up so high that he has to jump up everytime he hits it. Even the singer and guitarist are amused by his antics. Kwon is a well-known drummer from Korea, and he ROCKS!

Garth Algar (Dana Carvey of SNL) Wayne’s World Drum Solo – “I like to play…”
Posted in Comedy, Drum Solos with tags Dana Carvey, drum solo, Mike Meyers, Wayne's World on March 10, 2008 by DRUM & DRUMMER
Dana Carvey rocks out during this drum solo! In addition to being a hilarious comedian, he is also an accomplished drummer. He definitely has better chops than Will Ferrell, although Will’s cowbell playing is extremely entertaining. Dana has sat in with great bands such as U2 and the G.E. Smith Band.
Side note: Check out Dana Carvey’s character with multiple personality disorder in the 1988 movie “Moving” (starring Richard Pryor). Dana’s impression of Neil Young on SNL is also a riot.
Will Ferrell’s comedy sketches on LaughOrDie.com are pretty damn funny as well.
Will Ferrell -> MORE Cowbell! “I really want you to explore the studio space…”

“Don’t blow this for us, Gene!”
This Saturday Night Live sketch video featuring Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken had to be changed to a version with new music replacing the original Blue Oyster Cult song. YouTube won’t keep the post of the SNL original on their site.
This sketch is especially funny to me because of my experiences in high school band class. One of my good friends used to play electric guitar in our junior high school jazz band. A couple of times after playing an entire song with the guitar completely unplugged from its amplifier, our band instructor would tell my friend that, “we could use a little less guitar in this song”.
He had just been strumming the guitar with no volume in order to practice the song’s chord progressions. We always thought it was a funny request, since my friend was playing the only guitar in a band full of horn and woodwind instruments. After the next run-through of the song, with the guitar still unplugged, our band instructor commented, “That was much better.”
When another friend and I would play two sets of drums side by side, our band instructor would tell us to “turn the drums down a little.” This request was more reasonable, since we were usually playing at a quadruple forte dynamics level. Technically speaking, acoustic drums can’t actually be “turned down,” but they can be played at a quieter level. Fortunately for the band, we eventually learned the art of playing dynamically while keeping solid time.
Our percussion section played much like Gene (Will Ferrell) does in this sketch for quite some time. It was great fun at the time, but I’m sure it was torturous for the rest of our band class. It’s a mighty risky thing to arm 12-year-old boys with drumsticks.
